#WINE: GuestViews sparkles at the Taittinger Champagne House

GuestViews is now available in a true landmark of wine tourism: the cellars of the Taittinger Champagne House, in its home of the butte Saint-Nicaise. And for the first time, visitors can play an active part in the experience thanks to the GuestViews app installed on giant interactive terminals that also propose informative content about the Taittinger vintages. If you want to learn all about this unique site, you’re in the right place!

The Taittinger House has been making champagne in the Reims area since the 18th century. Its history is deeply linked to three main locations: the Mansion of the Counts of Champagne in Reims, the castle of the Marquetterie near Épernay and the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise, now headquarters of the Champagne House with its Art Deco architectures. More than 70 000 visitors pay it a visit each year to discover the cellars and enjoy tastings to get to know the Taittinger products.

Before an abbey sat on top of it, the butte Saint-Nicaise was run through by Gallo-Roman chalk quarries that the monks then refurbished and used as cellars to keep the champagne that they sold. The proximity of the rich soil of the Mountain of Reims to the abbey explains why the monks began cultivating the grapevine as soon as the Middle Ages.
During your visit, you will be able to enjoy the Gothic, unique to Champagne style of the quarries decorated with vaults and sculptures displaying scenes from the time of the abbey, all eighteen meters underground! And at the end of your visit, you can share your opinion with us by answering to a few questions on the GuestViews app.

To know all about the way House Taittinger makes its champagne, the cellars of the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise is waiting for you, just like the GuestViews app is waiting for your comments!
